Media Case

From small beginnings...

Stratcom began in 1991 as a one-person, at-home business, founded by President Bob Penner. With years of experience in the non-profit sector and politics, Bob saw the need for communication and fundraising strategies, tailored for the unique needs of this sector.

Soon, with more work than he could handle on his own, Bob sought out similar-minded people to join him, and opened a phone bank in his kitchen. Stratcom Toronto was officially launched at its current location in the fall of 1994. To meet growing client demand, Stratcom opened its Vancouver office in 1996.

Stratcom’s early commitment to growth and innovation, coupled with a talented team attracted to our mission, have helped a wide range of organizations achieve their goals. Our clients have shown lasting confidence in our services, and we have formed long-term partnerships and helped many organizations fulfill their mission.

Stratcom was pleased to welcome Renewal Partners, a progressive seed capital investment firm as a partner in 2001, along with Van City Credit Union and Capital Corporation. These partnerships were integral to the development of Stratcom as a socially progressive firm.

Our mission is simple: We help non-profits, advocacy groups and public service organizations and political candidates become more effective in their work.

Stratcom has received numerous awards and honours.

We have helped more than 200 diverse organizations in Canada and the U.S. become more innovative, effective, and successful. You’ve probably heard of some of our clients.

“We could have never built up our membership and become the largest membership think tank in Canada without Strategic Communications. They are a pleasure to work with and I am proud to be associated with this consulting firm.”
