Stratcom began in 1991 as a one-person, at-home business, founded by President Bob Penner. With years of experience in the non-profit sector and political arena, Bob saw the need for campaigns and fundraising strategies, tailored to the unique needs of this sector.

Soon, with more work than he could handle on his own, Bob sought out similar-minded people to join him. The Toronto office in its current location in Parkdale opened in the fall of 1994. In 1996, Stratcom expanded and opened another full service office in Vancouver.

In 2001, Stratcom was pleased to welcome Renewal Partners, a progressive seed capital investment firm as a partner, along with Van City Credit Union and Capital Corporation. In 2007 Working Enterprises, a company owned by the Canadian Labour movement that invests in businesses they support, also joined Stratcom as an investment partner. These partnerships were integral to the continued development of Stratcom as a socially progressive and effective firm.

Over the last 20 years, Stratcom has grown and now has clients from every non-profit sector and they range from small grass roots organizations to large international NGOs and charities in Canada, the US and Europe.
