Bob Penner is the President and CEO of Strategic Communications Inc. (Stratcom), which he founded in 1991.
In addition to managing Strategic Communications, Bob works as senior consultant in most practice areas. He has been a pollster and strategist for numerous elections and public interest advocacy campaigns.
Bob has been the pollster and strategist for political campaigns for Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson, former Toronto Mayor Barbara Hall and the Federal NDP Leader Jack Layton.
In the fundraising sector, Bob helped develop industry-leading fundraising programs for the Council of Canadians and Friends of Canadian Broadcasting. Bob serves as an advisor on many of Stratcom's direct mail and telephone fundraising accounts.
Bob and his partners are investors in socially responsible businesses and is an active member as well as a presenter for the Social Venture Institute. He was nominated for an Ethics in Action Business Award. Bob is also a partner in Strategic Properties, a real estate investment firm.
Prior to founding Stratcom, Bob was a peace and environmental activist. He held various positions including Development Director of Greenpeace Canada, and was the founding Coordinator of the Canadian Peace Alliance, where he played a prominent role in the national peace movement campaigns of the 1980s and early 1990s.
Originally from Toronto, Bob now lives in Vancouver with his partner, fiction writer Shaena Lambert, and their two children. Bob commutes regularly between Stratcom’s Toronto and Vancouver offices.
